Adorning a Zakiram pendant is a cherished practice, especially among Tibetan women, who believe it attracts prosperity, safeguards family, and ensures a life marked by safety, health, and smooth journeys.
This piece serves as a daily touchstone for resilience and a magnet for abundance, making it ideal for entrepreneurs, spiritual seekers, or anyone navigating life’s challenges.
The Legend of Zakiram
The deity enshrined in Zaki Temple, known as Zakiram, is considered a manifestation of Palden Lhamo, the guardian goddess of Lhasa. A captivating tale surrounds her origin.
Centuries ago, a devout Buddhist woman named Zakiram journeyed from inland China to Lhasa alongside a master from Sera Monastery. Her extraordinary beauty provoked intense envy among local goddesses, who responded with poison and the cruel severing of her feet.
Displaying miraculous power, Zakiram concentrated all the venom onto her tongue and replaced her lost feet with the claws of a chicken. Utterly thwarted, her adversaries conceded defeat.
This legend directly informs her iconic depiction: widely staring eyes, a darkened countenance, a protruding blackened tongue signifying the absorbed poison, and distinctive chicken feet.
Interestingly, Zaki Temple initially gained renown not for wealth, but for prayers of safety offered by travelers. Many of these travelers were merchants who began seeking fortunes there and found their petitions answered.
Over time, through these auspicious results, the site naturally evolved into a premier destination for worshipping the Goddess of Wealth, making any item bearing her image a profoundly meaningful gift for business ventures or new beginnings.
